As winter takes a firmer grip over the Northern hemisphere, those of us dealing with the daily cold are increasingly in search of ways to thaw our frozen minds and bodies - whether that’s a cup of tea, a book about Hygge or suitably wintry music. It’s the last of our examples that we have found in the form of Josh Savage’s ‘Whisper In The Snow’. Co-written with Alice Pearl, the interplay between their soft, well-trained vocals takes us back to The xx’s early years. It’s that same minimalist atmosphere that rides through this track – the bare, intricate strings and withheld production are an ideal counterpart to the song’s metaphorical, as well as literal, subject matter. Whether your own heartbreak is past or present, Josh Savage’s incredibly tender song is sure to inspire a moment of quiet, emotively-charged contemplation.
